Hong Kong and Macao police jointly cracked cross-border drug trafficking case, with two men apprehended
The Narcotics Division of the Judiciary Police received intelligence from the Hong Kong police earlier on, indicating that a Hong Kong man had smuggled drugs into Macao and that he would enter Macao via the port of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge on the night of 5th June 2025. Deployment was instantly initiated, with apprehension operation launched while the man was conducting drug transaction with a mainland man in a hotel in the ZAPE district. During the apprehension, the involved mainland man tossed 10 packets of cocaine weighing a total of around 3.9 grams and worth approximately MOP8,000 on the ground. They were immediately seized by the personnel of the Judiciary Police, who also seized cash of HKD60,000 and 2 mobile phones on the two involved men.
Upon investigation, the urine sample of the involved Hong Kong man yielded positive results in the drug test. He had smuggled drugs into Macao as per the instructions of the upper-level member and then sold them to the involved mainland man, which could earn him a remuneration of HKD3,000 if the transaction was successful. In addition, the urine sample of the involved mainland man yielded negative results in the drug test, yet evidence showed that he had bought the drugs for profitable resale purposes.
Based on investigative results, the Judiciary Police transferred the two involved men to the Public Prosecutions Office for the offence of illegal trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, while continuing to investigate the origins of the drugs, and pursuing the remaining involved persons at large.
The cooperation of the Judiciary Police and the Hong Kong police this time successfully prevented drugs from entering the market, which relied on the close intelligence exchange and smooth policing cooperation mechanism between the police of both places. The Judiciary Police will continue to implement the policy of “intelligence-led investigation”, reinforce the cooperation with the police departments of the neighbouring regions, fight against the drug trafficking activities with all-out efforts and safeguard the societal security and the safety of the residents.
