ATM Fraud

Modus operandi of the culprits

        1.Culprits mount a card reader, using double-sided tape, over the ATM machine card slot and install a micro-camera above the keypad, then monitor nearby;

        2.When the victim inserts the ATM/credit card, the card data will be captured by the card reader;

        3.The pin keyed-in by the victim on the keypad will be recorded by the camera;

        4.A card is cloned and cash is taken from the victim's account with the stolen card details and PIN.

Preventive measures

        1.Be mindful of any suspicious devices fitted on the card slot and above the keypad;

        2.Always cover your hand when keying in your PIN;

        3.Beware of your surroundings when making withdrawals. Stop the transaction if someone is behaving suspiciously nearby.
