情報及支援廳具有以下職權：預防和調查第 5/2006 號法律第七條第一款所指的犯罪，尤其是以情報為主導調查嚴重複雜的刑事案件；組織、裝置、操作、保養自動紀錄系統，該系統用作處理屬警務及刑事性質的資料，有助於司法警察局對職權範圍內的犯罪展開調查；訂定打擊犯罪的策略性計劃；為局內各調查附屬單位提供行動及技術支援 。
具職權搜集、處理、研究、分析及評估刑事情報；管理、保養及拓展刑事情報的網絡及系統；協助各調查附屬單位分析情報；促進與其他刑事警察機關及司法當局在刑事情報方面的交流。
具職權在司法當局的許可及監督下，以其技術設備向司法警察局各調查附屬單位展開的調查行動提供輔助，並確保該等設備的保養工作。
具職權調查法律所規定或有關當局所指派的由該處調查的犯罪；並就上述所指犯罪進行預防宣傳，並制定相關的教育政策。
The Intelligence and Support Department performs the following functions: preventing and investigating crimes indicated by Paragraph 1 of Article 7 of Law no. 5/2006, especially serious and complicated criminal cases with intelligence-oriented investigation; organizing, installing, operating and maintaining the automated registration system which handles policing and criminal information, facilitating the investigation of crimes that fall within the scope of the Judiciary Police; devising strategic plans for combating crimes; providing operational and technical support to various investigative subordinate units of PJ.
The Intelligence Consolidation Division is empowered to gather, process, examine, analyze and evaluate criminal intelligence; manage, maintain and develop criminal intelligence network and system; assist various investigative subordinate units in analysing intelligence; motivate the exchange of intelligence with other criminal police agencies and judicial authorities.
The Technical Investigation Division is empowered to provide assistance, under the authorization and supervision of the judicial authorities, with technical equipment to support the investigative operation conducted by investigative subordinate units of PJ, and ensure the maintainence work of such equipment.
The Special Investigation Division is empowered to investigate crimes which are conferred by law or assigned by relevant authorities to this Division; promote prevention of such crimes, and map out relevant educational policies.
Ao Departamento de Informações e Apoio compete: a prevenção e investigação dos crimes enunciados no nº 1 do artº 7 da lei nº 5/2006, em especial, a investigação de casos criminais graves e complexos, os quais são dominados pelas informações; organizar, instalar, explorar e conservar o sistema automatizado de registo de informações de natureza policial e criminal tendente a auxiliar a investigação dos crimes delegados na PJ; definir planos estratégicos para o combate à criminalidade; bem como prestar apoio técnico-operacional às várias subunidades de investigação da PJ.
Compete a esta Divisão recolher, tratar, estudar, analisar e avaliar as informações criminais; garantir a gestão, manutenção e alargamento das redes e sistemas de informações criminais; prestar auxílio às subunidades de investigação na análise de informações, bem como promover trocas com outros órgãos de polícia criminal e autoridades judiciárias no âmbito da informação criminal.
Compete a esta Divisão investigar os crimes que lhe são cometidos por lei ou designados pela respectiva autoridade; bem como fazer propaganda para prevenção dos crimes referidos na alínea anterior e elaborar as respectivas políticas educativas.
Compete a esta Divisão a investigação de crimes a si atribuídos por lei ou pela autoridade competente para o efeito, bem como desenvolver acções de propaganda para prevenção desses crimes.
