　　The Security Department is vested with the following authority: Preventing and investigating crimes against national security as stated in Article 7 Paragraph 1 Item (13) of Law no. 5/2006, amended by Law no. 14/2020; preventing and investigating crimes per competence empowered by law, or investigating crimes designated by relevant authorities; collecting, processing, studying, analyzing and assessing the intelligence required to exercise the aforesaid authority; taking up the responsibility of external communications and exchange facilitating the upholding of national security; organizing publicity and education work on the enforcement of safeguarding national security; supporting the policy research and legal system construction of the Office of Committee for Safeguarding National Security of Macao Special Administrative Region, while providing the Committee and Office with administrative and logistical support.

National Security Intelligence Division

　　Being empowered to collect and strategically analyze current intelligence related to developments impairing national security and stability; collect and strategically analyze intelligence relevant to national separatist forces, hostile forces, extremist forces and related persons.

National Security Crimes Investigation Division

　　Being empowered to prevent and investigate crimes against national security as stated in Article 7 Paragraph 1 Item (13) of Law no. 5/2006, amended by Law no. 14/2020; to take charge of counter-intelligence work within the Macao Special Administrative Region Government, particularly to prevent and counter infiltration, rebellion and theft of secrets, while monitoring and carrying out security investigation into key or sensitive departments and entities; to take charge of counter-espionage work against high-risk personnel; to take charge of external communications and exchange facilitating the upholding of national security.

National Security Operations Support Division

　　Being empowered to provide operational support, technical support and relevant training.

National Security Affairs Consolidation Division

　　Major duties include supporting the policy research and legal system construction of the Office of Committee for Safeguarding National Security of Macao Special Administrative Region, while providing the Committee and Office with administrative and logistical support.

　　Compete ao Departamento de Segurança prevenir e investigar os crimes contra a segurança do Estado referidos na alínea 13) do n.º 1 do artigo 7.º da Lei n.º 5/2006, alterada pela Lei n.º 14/2020; proceder à prevenção e investigação dos crimes conforme as competências que lhe são conferidas por lei ou proceder à investigação dos crimes por incumbência da respectiva autoridade; proceder à recolha, tratamento, estudo, análise e avaliação das informações necessárias ao exercício das competências acima referidas; assegurar as acções de ligação e intercâmbio com o exterior, que propiciam o trabalho de defesa da segurança do Estado; coordenar as acções de sensibilização e educação inerentes à execução da legislação no âmbito da defesa da segurança do Estado; apoiar o trabalho de estudo das políticas e de criação do sistema jurídico desenvolvido pelo Gabinete da Comissão de Defesa da Segurança do Estado da RAEM; bem como dar apoio administrativo e logístico a esta Comissão e ao respectivo Gabinete.

Divisão de Informações de Segurança do Estado

　　Compete a esta Divisão recolher informações e realizar análises estratégicas sobre os movimentos que prejudiquem a segurança e estabilidade do Estado, e recolher informações e realizar análises estratégicas em relação às forças separatistas, forças hostis e forças extremistas nacionais e aos respectivos agentes.

Divisão de Investigação de Crimes relativos à Segurança do Estado

　　Compete a esta Divisão proceder à prevenção e investigação dos crimes contra a segurança do Estado previstos na alínea 13) do n.º 1 do artigo 7.º da Lei n.º 5/2006, alterada pela Lei n.º 14/2020; assegurar as acções de contra-inteligência no seio do Governo da RAEM, nomeadamente a prevenção e resposta à infiltração, incitação à revolta e subtracção de segredo, bem como proceder à fiscalização e investigação da segurança em relação aos serviços e entidades críticos ou sensíveis; assegurar as acções de contra-espionagem em relação a pessoas com alto risco; e assegurar as acções de ligação e comunicação com o exterior, que propiciam o trabalho de defesa da segurança do Estado.

Divisão de Apoio Operacional de Segurança do Estado

　　Compete a esta Divisão disponibilizar o apoio operacional e técnico e a respectiva formação.

Divisão Geral de Assuntos Relativos à Segurança do Estado

　　As principais atribuições são o apoio ao trabalho de estudo das políticas e de criação do sistema jurídico desenvolvidos pelo Gabinete da Comissão de Defesa da Segurança do Estado da RAEM e o apoio administrativo e logístico à Comissão e ao respectivo Gabinete.
