法律輔助辦公室直接隸屬司法警察局領導層，職務範圍包括：向司法警察局各附屬單位提供法律輔助，負責司法爭訟、制定意見書及法律草案，以及經有權限實體委任後代表司法警察局參與各工作小組或其他具法律性質的項目。

The Legal Office functions under the direct supervision of the Judiciary Police Directorate. Its scope of duty includes providing legal advice to all subordinate units of the Judiciary Police, handling litigations; providing legal opinions and drafting bills; participation in working groups or in any other law related tasks as the representative of Judiciary Police after being appointed by the authorized entity.

O Gabinete de Apoio Jurídico, funcionando na dependência directa da Direcção da Polícia Judiciária, tem como área funcional principal a assessoria jurídica de toda a estrutura orgânica da Polícia Judiciária, designadamente ao nível do contencioso, da elaboração de pareceres e de projectos legislativos, tendo igualmente funções representativas em grupos de trabalho ou outros projectos de natureza jurídica, em resultado de nomeação competente.
